Easybackups works on an incremental principle meaning the initial backup that you perform takes all the data and stores it on disk. Backups thereafter, whether scheduled or forced, consist only of the changes made to the files being backed up. Files that have not been altered in any way will not be backed up. This is made possible via the Attix5 software, which users need to install on the computer that is to be backed up. The Attix5 software once installed will allow users to select the files they wish to backup and set regular backups in the schedule so that you do not have to remember to backup your data. Having said that, you may want to manually backup data whenever you want, Attix5 will allow you to do this. All data is encrypted and stored in Backup Storage Platforms which are fully mirrored and hosted in two separate locations. The hosting centres are housed in highly secure disaster recovery buildings owned and run by IBM Business Continuity & Recovery Services. At any time, daily versions of files are available for a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 60 days with 1 month end roll-up. This cycle can be changed to suit the company’s requirement e.g. daily backups can be extended as well as the number of roll-ups kept on the Storage Platform. The month end roll-ups can also be stored on a separate Storage Platform or copied to tape for archiving purposes. The following diagrams illustrate the backup cycles:
Using the Attix5 software you have installed and the login details provided to you, data can be simply retrieved or backed up when necessary. Alternatively you can access your data via the online access link. Wherever you are, as long as you have Internet Access, the secure login guarantees your data is available to you.
